The Grief Path
Meet Monaye Etana
Certified Grief Recovery Specialist
My name is Monaye Etana, and I am the owner of The Grief Path.
I’m an author, mentor, and an advocate for suicide prevention and child abuse. The mission of The Grief Path is to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment to support and equip you with the necessary tools for moving beyond grief on the path to recovery.
Many of us have experienced the pain that comes along with grief and loss. While grief is common, it is unique for every person. Grief is the conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behavior. This is not limited to death and may include the loss of a pet, employment, health, or a marriage. Any of these life events may have left you with a broken heart. This may have left you feeling angry, uncertain, numb, or alone. While I can’t say that I know how you feel, I do know what it is like to experience heartbreak.
I experienced grief at an early age with the suicide of my mother at 3 years of age. Not having her in my life impacted me in many ways throughout my life. I had grandmothers, a stepmom and others who helped to raise me alongside my father, but nothing replaces a mother. Years later, I experienced the loss of my innocence through abuse. I endured several other losses later in life as well. This resulted in me spending many years hiding behind pain and sadness while finding unhealthy ways to cope.
When I found out about the Grief Recovery Method, I knew it was something that I needed for myself. There were areas of my life that had unresolved emotions. Once I went through the process, I was able to heal from my past and complete my grief. This did not erase any beautiful memories I had but allowed me to move forward in a healthy and positive way. I realized that so many others could benefit from this gift of healing.
My passion for helping people along with my own personal experiences with grief led me to get certified as a Grief Recovery Specialist. If you are ready to begin your journey, please contact The Grief Path so we can guide you on your path of completion. Let’s heal and thrive.
